MOTD: Innisfree It's Real! Squeeze Bija Mask

Heyy y'all! Today's mask is from Innisfree, a Korean based company. I bought this mask from TesterKorea for 950 won, or about $0.84. This company is known for their natural approach to skincare. They tend to use a lot of what us Westerners would call 'exotic' ingredients, primarily from Jeju Island in Korea. 

With that said, I hard a hard time finding anything about Bija. Even Google was like, what the fuck is it? XD After a look on the manufacturer's site, I found what they were referring to: torreya oil. Interesting.

According to Innisfree:

1. It's real squeeze mask with torreya oil! The fruits of the torreya tree have been highly appreciated and used as a precious ingredient.
2. Jeju green complex: Jeju green complex that consists of green tea, tangerine, cactus, Camellia leaves and orchid keep your skin healthy.

Ooo, gimmie gimme, I thought whilst selecting my mask last night. Sounds like what my skin needs after a muggy, grimy day in NYC!


....but seriously, wtf is torreya oil and why is there a picture of a fucking lime on the package?? I guess a bunch of crushed up leaves just wasn't appealing enough on its own eh? XD

But I digress.

Let's take a look at that featured ingredients shall we?

• Torreya oil is known as Bija in Korean. I could find nothing specific as to why it's good for "troubled skin" . The only conclusive thing I've found about it is that it's a "skin conditioning emollient": a regular ass moisturizer. Huh. My Google Foo is no match for this ingredient :(
• Green tea is awesome, as we found out in a previous mask review. Antioxidants, anti-inflammatory yumminess, yo.
• Tangerines are my second favorite citrus fruit (besides clementines ;P). Besides being yummy, they are chock full of all sorts of awesomeness: vitamin C, folate and beta-carotene. They also contain three b vitamins (including niacinamide! Yayyy). Anti-aging, skin brightening, wound healing.... it's an alll around a great ingredient.
• Cactus just became the new darling of Elle. Apparently it has more antioxidants and vitamins than argan oil: known and love universally for its many wonderful attributes. 
• Camellia has been a beauty staple of Japanese geisha for centuries. Apparently it's been proven to support healthy skin function and promote the making of collagen in the skin. 
• Orchid extract is known for reducing the look of fine lines and wrinkles, its repairing/protective properties, and as being a humectant that also moisturizes, soothes and conditions skin.

As a side note, apparently Innisfree puts most (if not all) of the ingredients (besides the bija) in all of their It's Real! Squeeze masks, so good to know. I do plan on reviewing the rest of the masks in the series that I have on hand, so this just saved my future self some work :P

Anyway, enough veggie talk! On to the review!

Mask details: This mask had a nice clean smell.... not fruity or medicinal as I expected (damn misleading packaging....) It is a cotton mask that was decently soaked with essence, and I only had a little left in the package to do The Yoosh.

Mask Fit: This was the standard not-quite-fitting. I had to rip the eye and mouth holes for it to be comfortable, but it did fit my whole face so yay for that :D

First Impressions: This mask held up for about 45 minutes before drying out, When I took it off, my face felt moist and plump. It took a few minutes for the essence to pat it, then I finished my routine and went about my business.

Final thought: I didn't have any major skin issues yesterday (the last of my forehead breakout is all but gone now), so I cannot really attest to its' advertised anti-trouble properties. Although I will say that my face felt great this morning! I kinda wish I would have saved it for the inevitable bad breakout to test it out. I had a schedule of masks to try and help my breakout, but it got much better by yesterday morning, and I just said fuck it... too much bother agonizing over choosing another mask XD

Would I rebuy it? I sure would! This is the second mask from them I tried (I have a double of the other one, which will be reviewed someday :P) and so far, I've enjoyed both masks from them. It's not a spectacular mask series to me so far by any means, but they're a decent low cost mask to have in stock for when you tire of more complex masks. The focus on more natural ingredients is a bonus for me, but they do contain alcohol so if your skin is sensitive to it (mine does not seem to be... but then I used to slather on alcoholic astringents and fucking Ponds cold cream on my face at night for my routine XD) you might wanna skip this mask.
