Purederm Snail Cell Illuminating Multi Step Treatment

Hey dolls! Today's mask is from Purederm, a Korean brand.

Hmm, this is the second mask from them I'm reviewing in as many weeks! I decided to do this mask because I didn't see much buzz about it in the AB sphere... (aka none of my fave bloggers reviewed it yet XD). I also got this one from TesterKorea for 1,500 won, or $1.27 USD. Not bad, right? The other mask was kinda *yawn*, so I was hoping this one would be a bit more exciting, since it's a special dual step mask and all :D

How often do you see these kind of masks??

Purederm has the following to say about the mask pack:
Cell Illuminating Multi-step Treatment
  • Purederm Cell Illuminating Multi-step Treatment, containing Cell Illuminating Ampoule (Step 1)&Snail 3-Dimentional Mask (Step 2), is an innovative 2-step skin regenerative program that combines the benefits of a skin ampoule and facial mask for maximum treatment results.
  • Cell Illuminating Ampule (Step 1) : Designed to be used prior to Snail 3D Mask, this skin-brightening ampoule evens out skin tones while facilitating the absorption of the active ingredients in the mask.
  • Snail 3D Mask (Step 2) : Made from 3-dimentional natural pulp sheet that is dramatically adhered altogether, this 3D mask provides perfect coverage for areas that flat mask can not cover : facial ridges, jaw line. Contains Snail Extract with superb skin regenerating properties.
Sounds pretty awesome, right?? I don't really come across these kind of masks very often (the dual or sometimes triple step masks) so this was a nice change from the standard sheet mask for me. Spice is the variety of life right??
Not that kind of spice, but always an acceptable choice XD
Anyway, the featured ingredient in this mask is snail mucus extract, or you may see it as snail secretion filtrate or extract (same difference :P). I lurrrve snail in my AB products! My skin responds well to it and so whenever I think my skin needs a little more TLC, I reach for something with snail in it. Just listen to this:  if you have acne problems, blemishes that won't go away, fine wrinkles annoying the shit out of you, etc... the snail slime has got you, meng.
Come here Piper snaily goodness *rawr*
And the best part about this mask? Look at the mask ingredients (typed up by moi):
water (aqua), glycerin, snail secretion filtrate, butylene glycol, propylene glycol, portulaca oleracea extract, betaine, dipotassium glycyrrhizate, sodium hyaluronate, xanthan gum, illicium verum (anise) fruit extract, sodium polyacrylate, PEG-60 hydronated castor oil, phenoxyethanol, carbomer, triethanolamine, disodium EDTA, methylparaben, propylparaben, 1,2-hexanediol, propanediol, caprylyl glycol, alcohol, phenyl trimethicone, fragrance (parfum).
Snail is listed as the third ingredient. WOW. Not even in most more expensive snail-type masks does it rank so high in the ingredients! It's even before the glycols *shock* There are some really other great ingredients hiding in here, too! We got some licorice extract (dipotassium glycyrrhizate) and some star anise (illicium verum).  Apparently. star anise has both antiseptic and stimulating properties. Licorice extract has anti-inflammatory and skin lightening properties.
Like a Katniss loves a cake (maker) Bad pun FTW!
I almost forgot about the ampoule! It's the first step in the "multi step treatment". The ampoule's featured ingredient is arbutin. We covered that in another mask review, but to briefly go over it again, arbutin is an agent with skin lightening properties. You'll usually find it in masks and products that claim to whiten/brighten skin. So, there's the illuminating part then XD

Enough tomfoolery...on to the review we go XD

TL;DR:

Mask 411: Thin, stiff. decently soaked in essence. Smelled a little weird.
Mask fit: Weird 3D fit with slits
Did it work as advertised? Sure!
Overall rating? This is a great mask!

Mask details: The mask was thin but stiff. It had a thick seam that runs through the middle of it, and was one of those "3D" type masks, meaning they have a cupped chin. It was decently soaked in essence, not much left in the package, sadly. It smelled a little weird to me... not bad per se, just not like a standard sheet mask-y smell.

Oh, let's talk about the ampoule. It was a thick, kinda viscous, whitish, cloudy gel... looked a little bit like cum TBCH.
I may be, but it does not take away from that fact that it's the truth.
Heh. It had no discernable smell. There was about a tablespoon worth of ampoule, and I used the whole thing. My skin felt nice after smoothing it on. I used the whole packet, then waited a couple of minutes to put on the mask. My face felt silky after the ampoule soaked in :D

Mask Fit: Umm, totes not my favorite part of this mask. They have this thick seam that culminates at the chin, where it gathers in and forms a chin cup. Great if you have a petite face....not so good otherwise. These 3D masks do not like people with big faces.... they never fit me right. I had to split the chin for it to even fit! I look like a fucking goon in this mask:

I look like a duck faced moron in this mask.
The nose flap was so long I accidentally breathed it in, couldn't breathe, and panicked for a second before lifting the flap XD I ended up cutting it for the rest of the time. Well, at least the other holes were placed well? XD

First Impression: After wrestling with the fit *sigh*, it stayed on pretty well. It stayed wet about 40 minutes... I spent most of that time arranging the chin flaps I made :( My face felt silky and plump after removing the mask, and it took a few minutes for the remaining essence to be absorbed in. I then finished my routine and went about my business.

Final thoughts:

YES!
Even Chuck Norris approves XD
I had to bust out an Abbi dance for this shit.
All in all, I was impressed. I woke up to awesome skin, and it stayed soft, bright and awesome alll day. I tell ya, snail is always the way to go! I like to use a snail mask even when there are no outstanding skin issues, just to maintain a level of awesomeness in mah face. I have been hitting gold with the mask choices lately, Woo hoo! *confetti*

Despite the shitty fit, I would definitely rebuy this mask! I'm so glad I gave it a chance. I was really hesitant to use it when I saw 3D (not my first tango with a "3D" mask). Even its less impressive sister was a decent mask, so I was hopeful about this one. The only other place I'd buy it from/seems to have it is eBay, where the going rate is about $13 for a 5 piece pack....or about $2.60 a piece. Hmm. It would be less aggravating than going through TK, at any rate. With free shipping, it would be worth it, I think. There's none on Amazon, sadly :(

Have you used this multi step treatment mask and if so, what did you think? Let me know in the comments!

Until next masking adventure,

xoxox
